Aston Villa have extended the contract of youth player Harry McKirdy to keep the youngster at Villa Park until 2019, according to Football Insider.
Villa have enjoyed great success with young players emerging from their academies in recent times, with the likes of Andre Green and Kienan Davis making a bright starts in their respective careers after being promoted from the youth teams.
It now looks likely that Villa will continue promoting talented players into the first team and young Harry McKirdy is expected to follow in the footsteps of Green and Davis soon.
The 20-year-old is a striker who is also capable of playing in the no. 10 position and is already an established member of the U-23 squad.
This means that the McKirdy will be in line for promotion into the first team in the foreseeable future if he keeps improving in his performances for the Villians youth team.
Therefore, Villa have extended McKirdy’s stay at the club till 2019 and the new long term contract also means that the club has plans in place for the young forward, which will give the 20-year-old confidence to make it into the first team soon.
