Barnsley defender Marc Roberts is currently being targeted by Premier League strugglers Sunderland, according to reports from the Sun.
Sunderland suffered another blow in their hopes of maintaining their Premier League status following a 3-0 home defeat against Manchester United on Sunday and many feel that the Black Cats are already consigned to the drop.
Even if Sunderland suffer relegation, it looks like the club will stick with manager David Moyes but the Scotsman will surely have strengthen his squad in order for the Wearside based outfit to be able to earn promotion.
Roberts wanted by Sunderland
A number of players will be expected to leave the Stadium of Light in the upcoming summer and Moyes is already said to be looking at players to target in order to revamp his squad.
Now according to reports, the Sunderland boss is currently considering a swoop for Barnsley centre back Marc Roberts to bolster his backline. Roberts has been in impressive form this season and a host of clubs have expressed their interest in the 26-year-old.
Sunderland are clearly in need of strengthening their backline during the upcoming transfer window and it is believed that the Premier League strugglers will make a £5million swoop for the towering defender.
