Bolton Wanderers have stated that Gary Madine is not for sale – a position which will surely disappoint the likes of Sunderland, Derby County and Leeds United as they are the clubs interested in the forward.
A number of the Bolton players have been linked with a move to other Championship clubs in recent times, with the likes of Gary Madine and Josh Vela regarded as some of the most wanted players in the transfer market.
Despite Bolton’s poor form, the aforementioned players have been linked with many clubs in the Championship but the Trotters clearly do not want to lose any players during the current transfer window.
In order to avoid receiving any bids, the club have now released the following statement through a spokesperson, “We have had no interest in any of our players and if we did it would not be entertained. The manager and the chief scout are meeting today to discuss their plans for next month. We are only interested in bringing players in.
“We really can’t afford to weaken this squad at this stage and in January we have to make sure that, of all the teams in that bottom group, we come out of January in better shape than when we started it.
“Obviously January depends on the loan players and that will kind of work its way out but I don’t want the supporters to think that once January 1 comes there will be an influx of players walking in the door, I want to make sure we keep the ones we’ve got, we keep the strength, because January is a difficult transfer window because teams don’t let players go easily.
“Clubs keep the players who are available for loan around them to get them through that FA Cup period. We’re prepared to be patient.”
