Southampton set to activate Antonio Adan’s £6million release clause at Real Betis, according to reports
Southampton currently possess one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League in Fraser Forster and the England international has proven this fact by keeping a clean sheet in each of his last six matches for the Saints.
However, Southampton seem to be short on backup for Forster as Maarten Stekelenburg is expected to leave upon the end of his loan spell while Kelvin Davis is entering the twilight of his career.
As a result, Southampton manager Ronald Koeman is expected to bring in a backup for Forster during the summer and it was recently claimed that the Dutchman had identified Real Betis goalkeeper Antonio Adan as a target.
Adan set for Southampton move
Adan has been one of the most consistent goalkeepers in the Spanish La Liga this season and there has been an increased level of interest in the 28-year old after it was revealed that his release clause at Real Betis is only £6million.
Southampton were believed to be among the many clubs interested in Adan and in a further development to the story, revelations can be made that the Saints are now ramping up their pursuit to sign the former Real Madrid custodian.
Southampton were said to have sent an official to Betis’ last match against Sporting Gijon and after favourable reports, the Saints are now ready to activate Adan’s release clause at Southampton.
