Dwight Gayle is set to be rewarded with a new contract by Crystal Palace
Gayle had been deemed as surplus to requirements by Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew following the big money arrival of Connor Wickham from Sunderland.
With Gayle being made available, a host of Championship clubs had expressed their interest in signing the striker and it was revealed that Bristol City had managed to agree on a £8million fee with Palace for the former Peterborough United star.
Gayle to extend his stay at Crystal Palace
Gayle did not want to make a move down to the Championship though and decided to snub the advances of Bristol City. Eventually, Gayle stayed put at Palace and had insisted that he would fight for his place in the Eagles first team.
Following injuries suffered by Connor Wickham as well as the sale of Glenn Murray, Gayle was afforded a chance to impress and the striker has done brilliantly well in leading the line for the Premier League high flyers over the last few months.
Gayle’s performances is said to have won over Pardew and now according to reports emerging out of England, it has been claimed that the striker is set to be rewarded with a new contract by the Premier League side.
