Romania may not have qualified for the World Cup since 1998 but they usually tend to make an appearance in the European Championships and Tricolorii managed to make it into the 2016 edition of the competition without much fuss.
In truth though, Romania’s qualification group was perhaps a bit on the easier side and many are skeptical as to whether Anghel Iordănescu’s men will be able to make a similar impact in the tournament proper.
While Romania may not boast superstars, they do possess a very good team and are capable of giving even the best teams a run for their money.
Having conceded only 2 goals during the qualification rounds, it is clear to see that Romania are impeccable at the back and the likes of Switzerland and France will surely find it very tough to score against them.
As for going forward, Romania rely on a counter attacking style which is well complemented by their resolute defence and Iordănescu will be optimistic that his side can at least make it into the knockout rounds of the competition.
It looks like a toss-up between Romania and Switzerland in regards to who will qualify from Group A along with hosts France. Tricolorii do not have the flair of Switzerland in attack but they are a very well rounded team and should be able to give a good account of themselves in the competition.
