According to the agent of Siem De Jong, the player wants to stay put at Newcastle United this summer.
Siem De Jong arrived at Newcastle United in the summer of 2014 amid much expectations but the attacker has most certainly flattered to deceive during his time at St. James’ Park so far.
De Jong made only 22 league appearances for Newcastle in two seasons due to a host of injury problems and was drafted out on loan to PSV Eindhoven last term.
It now looks very much likely that Newcastle will look to cut their losses on De Jong and move him on to a permanent but the agent of the Netherlands international, Louis Laros, has surprisingly stated that the 28-year-old is looking to stay put at St. James’ Park this summer.
Laros told Voetbal International when asked about where De Jong’s future lies, “We do not know. The preparation has just started and it is still new round, new opportunities. Siem has never made a secret of it his intention to still succeed at Newcastle.
“Newcastle have not bought a lot of new players, so I expect that there still will be some players in the near future. The club is always working. Then we must wait and see if there is any prospect for Siem. He has never really worked under Benitez, so he must now try to take his chance.”
