Liverpool are eyeing an ambitious swoop for Chelsea custodian Thibaut Courtois, according to reports
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp surprisingly decided to hand goalkeeper Simon Mignolet a brand new contract back in January and it has to be stated that the move was a questionable one by the Reds’ boss.
Following a number of inconsistent displays over the past few months, Mignolet has failed to prove that he was worthy of the new contract and it is believed that even Klopp is having doubts regarding the Belgian stopper.
As a result, there is a widespread belief that Klopp will be looking to recruit a new custodian during the summer and a number of names such as Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Timo Horn and Joe Hart have been linked with a move to Anfield.
Courtois set for Liverpool move?
Now in a surprise link, claims are being made that Liverpool are also considering a swoop for Chelsea number one Thibaut Courtois. Courtois is widely regarded as one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe but the Belgian has endured a difficult campaign this term.
In addition, Courtois has made less than flattering comments regarding Chelsea over the course of the season and it was recently reported that incoming Blues boss Antonio Conte had instructed the club to sell the goalkeeper if a good offer comes along.
French champions PSG had been seen as the most likely destination for Courtois but now even Liverpool are said to be keen on securing the services of the 23-year old.
Liverpool will have to work hard in order to sign Courtois though and it is believed that interested parties need to splash as much as £50million in order to lure him away from Stamford Bridge this summer.
