According to Goal.com, Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho would have pocketed a mega deal worth €115 million at Barcelona had the Reds accepted the Catalans’ offer for the midfielder.
Coutinho was trailed relentlessly by Barcelona throughout the summer after they lost the services of Neymar to PSG for a world record deal of €222 million but they eventually failed to land the flamboyant Liverpool midfielder.
The Merseyside team were adamant to not sanction the sale of Coutinho at any cost and kept hold of the Brazilian international by rejecting every approach made by the Blaugrana for their prized asset.
This failure to sign for Barcelona is said to have left Coutinho in tears as he was desperate for a move to Barcelona.
One of the main reasons for his disappointment might possibly be the amount Barcelona were allegedly prepared to be paying. It has been reported that the Spanish giants had offered Coutinho wages of around €115 million, which is certainly a lot higher than what he is earning at Liverpool currently.
While playing for Barcelona is in itself a huge honour, the money they pay for their players is possibly one of the motivations for many stars to sign for the Catalan giants and Coutinho certainly may feel like he has missed out.
