Middlesbrough are set to sign young Chelsea midfielder Lewis Baker on a two-year loan, according to the Northern Echo.
The Championship side look set to lose Marten De Roon to Serie A side Atalanta after the midfielder spent only one year with the English outfit.
Nonetheless, Boro are already looking at the young Baker, who had an impressive season with the Dutch outfit Vitesse on loan, as a possible replacement for De Roon.
Boro have been active in the transfer market as they look to return back to the Premier League following their relegation last season. They have already strengthened their squad with the likes of Jonny Howson, Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher to name a few.
Baker will represent an astute recruitment for the Middlesbrough manager, Garry Monk, as he has been impressing regularly for the English national youth team and is a very promising young player.
Chelsea will also hope that the England Under-21 international can fulfill into his promise with more first team football under his belt at the Riverside Stadium.
The Teessiders are the favourites to get promoted this season and clever signings such as Baker will help to rubberstamp their credentials as the favourites for the current campaign.
