Newcastle United FC flop Facundo Ferreyra set for exit

Newcastle United certainly made a huge splash in the transfer market over the summer and brought in a host of quality players to the club. After a shaky settling in period, the new arrivals are beginning to show their class and have played a role in Newcastle’s good start to the campaign.

However, one signing who has made no contribution whatsoever in Newcastle United’s campaign, has been striker Facundo Ferreyra.

Ferreyra was signed on a season long loan by Newcastle from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk and his arrival was seen as a huge boost for the Magpies as the striker was considered one of the finest young players plying their trade in Europe.

However, Ferreyra has been conspicuously missing ever since he signed for Newcastle United and has not made a single appearance for the Magpies in any competition so far this season.

What makes Ferreyra’s absence even more baffling is the fact that the 23-year old has not been awarded a chance despite Newcastle looking very short in attack.

Ferreyra’s absence has certainly left a lot of people baffled and many have since questioned the logic of Newcastle in signing the striker in the first place.

Ferreyra looks unlikely to feature for the Magpies in the near future and it has been speculated that Alan Pardew is pondering cutting short the young strikers’ deal at St. James’ Park in January.

If indeed Newcastle do decide to dispense with the services of Ferreyra, he already has a couple of suitors lined up as Italian side Genoa have expressed their interest in the striker.

According to reports in Italy, Genoa are pondering a swoop for Ferreyra on a six month loan deal for a fee of around €500,000 and will insert a clause of purchasing the striker permanently at the end of the season for €8million.
