Newly appointed Derby County manager Nigel Pearson is looking to make a double swoop for Ritchie Da Laet and Matty James, according to reports

Pearson has been appointed as the manager of Derby County recently and he will surely be tasked with the job of getting the Rams promoted into the Premier League next season.

In order to do so, one can be sure that Pearson will need to strengthen his ranks and the 52-year-old is said to be already eyeing up potential targets to pursue.

Da Laet spent the second half of the season on loan at Middlesbrough

Now according to reports emerging out of England, it has been claimed that Pearson is planning a double raid on his former side Leicester City by making a swoop for the duo of Ritchie Da Laet and Matty James.

Da Laet and James both struggled for regular first team football at Leicester last season and with manager Claudio Ranieri set to bring in a number of new faces this summer, the two players look set to be pushed even further down the pecking order at the King Power Stadium.

James heading to Derby?

As a result, Da Laet and James are expected to be leaving Leicester this summer and Pearson is said to be interested in reuniting with the duo at Pride Park.

Pearson was the one who signed Da Laet and James from Manchester United back in 2012 and he will surely be hopeful that the two players will help him earn promotion into the Premier League once again.
