A host of Premier League sides have been handed a huge blow after Blackburn Rovers star Jordan Rhodes decided to commit his future at Ewood Park by signing a two year extension with the club.
Rhodes has been scoring goals for fun in the Championship over the last few years, with his brilliant record of 124 goals in just 213 appearances understandably catching the eye of a host of Premier League sides, namely Queens Park Rangers, West Ham United and Newcastle United.
However, Rhodes has decided to reject the advances of a host of Premier League sides to aid in Blackburn’s hopes of earning promotion back to the English top flight.
Upon signing the new deal with the club, the 24-year old expressed his delight and reiterated his happiness at Ewood Park.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Rhodes said, “I’m delighted, I’m very happy. It is a fantastic football club and I’m very lucky to be here. I enjoy coming in every day and to have an extension of two more years on top of my current contract is a real bonus.
“I was delighted to sign it, it is a club I enjoy playing for. The fans have been great ever since I’ve come in the place and I’ve just thoroughly enjoyed it so I’m delighted to be here.”
Rhodes joined Blackburn Rovers from Huddersfield Town back in 2012 for a then record fee paid for a player in the Championship of around £8million and although the hefty price tag certainly raised a few eyebrows, the Scottish international has more than justified it, scoring a remarkable 52 goals in just 96 appearances for the Lancashire side.
