Scotland captain Darren Fletcher has hailed international team-mate and Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney.
Tierney is currently plying his trade for Celtic and the defender is regarded as one of the hottest prospects in Europe, having impressed for the Hoops over the past 18 months or so.
As a result, many now are convinced that Tierney will make it big in the foreseeable future and ex-Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher is among those who believes that the young defender has a fine career ahead of him.
Speaking with Glasgow Evening Times, the Stoke City star said, “He is a fantastic talent with a massive future. I can’t speak highly enough of him either on or off the pitch. I think we are really witnessing the rise of a player who will be a very special talent.”
This potential has been identified by many Premier League clubs and the young Scot looks certain to leave Celtic in the near future, possibly by joining an English club.
However, Fletcher has advised the youngster to not leave Celtic yet and has asked him to rather prolong his growth under the tutelage of manager Rodgers as the Northern Irishman has a great record of nurturing talent.
He continued, “He will make his own mind up and make his own decisions, But right now he is playing Champions League football and he is part of something really special under Brendan Rodgers at Celtic who is a fantastic manager. There is plenty of time for him to go onto another level.
“The last thing you would want for him is to go and be another number somewhere – I am not saying that would be the case because I believe he will play at the very, very top level – but what I do know is that he will know himself when the time is right.”
Fletcher is a veteran of the game and has won everything in his career so far during his glorious spell with Manchester United. The Scot’s track record means that his praise for Tierney comes with an extra weight.
