Lazio youngster Ogenyi Onazi has said that he is interested in a move to Premier League side Liverpool. The 20-year old has gained a reputation as one of the most promising young players plying their trade in Europe and is said to have caught the attention of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers with his impressive performances for Lazio this season.

It is believed that Liverpool sent scouts to watch the Nigerian International play in last night’s 2-2 draw between Nigeria and Italy at Craven Cottage and the midfielder would have undoubtedly made a good impression as he put in a wonderful performance.

It looks like the midfielder also wants a move to Merseyside after publicly expressing his desire to move to Liverpool. Onazi fuelled the speculation that he could join the Reds by saying that he would jump at the chance at playing in the Premier League for a club like Liverpool.

The midfielder said, “I would jump at the chance to play in the Premier League. Liverpool? They are a huge team and are attractive to any footballer. I could see myself playing for them.”

Onazi has been an integral part of the Lazio side this year and has made 15 appearances for the Rome side. The midfielder is also a vital component for his National team having already made 18 appearances for the Super Eagles despite being only twenty years old. Onazi played a big part in Nigeria’s triumph in the African Cup of Nations last year.

A very quick and powerful midfielder, the young man has been likened to former Bolton Wanderers star and Nigeria legend Jay Jay Okocha.
