Rafael Benitez will be able to terminate his contract with Newcastle United if the Magpies suffer relegation, according to reports from the Express
Following a terrible spell, Newcastle United have finally decided to dispense with the services of Steve McClaren as manager and it is widely expected that the Magpies will move swiftly in order to appoint former Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez as his replacement in the coming days.
Despite his stellar reputation, Benitez is ready for a relegation scrap with Newcastle United and it is believed that the Spaniard is set to arrive soon after having held advanced talks with club managing director Lee Charnley.
Benitez set for Newcastle United move
Benitez is set to receive a £4million-per season deal at Newcastle while the former Real Madrid boss could pocket a whopping bonus of £2million if he manages to keep the Magpies afloat in the Premier League this season.
In a further incentive for Benitez to join Newcastle, the Express have claimed that the former Liverpool boss will be able to activate a get out clause from his contract with the Premier League side if they do go on to suffer relegation this season.
Benitez has proven his credentials with fine spells at Valencia, Liverpool and Napoli, but the job in hand at Newcastle is set to be a completely different challenge.
