According to The Mirror, Sheffield Wednesday are interested in the signature of Brentford defender Harlee Dean.
Wednesday have reportedly tabled a bid of £1.5 million for the 6’3” centre-back and rumors suggest that the transfer is imminent. Dean will have to compete for places with the likes of Tom Lees and Glenn Loovens, should he join The Owls.
Dean however is an alternative choice for manager Carlos Carvalhal as he had almost signed former Arsenal defender Johan Djourou, only for the deal to collapse at the last minute.
Wednesday will look to finish in the automatic promotion places this time around after getting beaten in penalties during the play-off semi-finals by Huddersfield last season.
They have so far made only one signing and the manager Carvalhal looks set to put faith in the crop of players, who brought the club great success last season.
Wednesday had a disappointing opening fixture in the Championship, losing 1-0 away from home to Preston North End and the Owls will look to improve when they face Queens Park Rangers in the second round of fixtures coming Saturday.
