Wolverhampton Wanderers are interested in signing Derby County forward Chris Martin in the January transfer window, according to HITC Sports.
Martin is not a regular in the Derby County squad and he has also failed to impress whenever he has featured for the Championship side.
As a result, it comes as a surprise that a club such as Wolves, who are currently leading the Championship, are interested in a player struggling for regular first team football like Martin.
That said, there is as very valid reason to justify the interest as despite having a very strong attack, Wolves lack depth in the position and consequently they are looking for squad players to help in the long and draining Championship season.
Martin fits in the criteria very well for a squad player as he can be signed for a relatively modest fee with average wages and will probably be prepared to play the role of a bit part player for the Championship leaders unlike other players.
This move might be better suited for Martin as well as the forward could prefer to play a back-up role for title chasing team like Wolves rather than Derby County.
