In a youthful Belgium side, Vincent Kompany is the leader of the team. Although not particularly too old at 28, it seems like Kompany has been around for ages and has proven to be arguably the best defender in the world.

The Belgian star inspired Manchester City to their title triumph this season, and has formed the foundation in defence at which Belgium’s success has been built upon in recent times.

An imposing defender who is powerful on his feet and quick in the air, there is virtually no weakness in Kompany’s game and is a model professional for young players to look upto.

While expecting the 28-year old to lift the World Cup might be too much of an ask, one can be sure that even the best strikers in the world will have a tough time breaching a defence that consists of a brilliant defender like Kompany.

While in Vincent Kompany, Belgium possess the best defender world and in Eden Hazard the Red Devils can boast of having the best young player in the planet.

Just 23 years old, Eden Hazard is a world class talent and has enjoyed a magnificent campaign with his club side Chelsea this season. Quick, tricky and with a devastating eye for goals, Hazard seemingly has everything in his repertoire to become the best in the world and is surely heading towards greatness.

However, the criticism labeled towards Hazard by many and even his manager Marc Wilmots, is that the 23-year old does not perform to his best for Belgium and just 5 goals in 42 international appearances proves that the criticism is justified.

As a result, Hazard will be desperate to perform well for Belgium at the World Cup and if he does, there is no reason why Belgium cannot go one to achieve great things in Brazil.

Another one of the ridiculously talented players to have emerged from the Belgium National team, Romelu Lukaku is a fine young player.

A beast of a striker, Lukaku is blessed with pace, power and finishing ability, and the mere sight of him can strike fear into the hearts of even the best of defenders.

Although still a bit raw, the 21-year old has proven that he can perform at the highest level as evidence by his fine campaigns for Everton and West Bromwich Albion before that. Despite his undoubted talent though, Lukaku seems to be out of favour with Chelsea and he will surely be determined to do well in Brazil to prove a point to his bosses at Stamford Bridge.

That being said, his club career must be the last thing on his mind at the moment and he will be solely focusing on helping Belgium create history at the World Cup.
