Samuel Eto’o may be 33, but the striker has proven that he has not lost any of his predatory instincts in front of goal despite losing that bit of pace since his Barcelona days.

While Eto’o may not have scored a bucket load of goals for Chelsea this season, the 33-year old can still perform when it matters and the Cameroon supporters will certainly be hoping that their hero will be on form at the World Cup.

Eto’o has an exemplary record for the Cameroon national team, having scored 55 goals in 112 appearance but has had his problems with various managers throughout his international career.

In what will surely be his last World Cup appearance, Eto’o will want to go out with a bang and Cameroon will certainly be dependent on the veteran striker in order to stand a chance of making it out of their group.

Alex Song has been at the fringes of Barcelona as well as in the wilderness for Cameroon over the last 18 months or so but there is no denying that the midfielder is a class act.

Song was regarded as one of the finest midfielders in Europe a couple of seasons ago and on his day, the 26-year old is able to create chances for his teammates at will.

His relationship with manager Volker Finke is not the best but the duo have insisted that they have put their bad blood behind them. Now, Finke should try to get the best out of the midfielder during the Finals and if Song can perform to his high levels, Cameroon stand every possibility of making it past the group stage.

Stéphane Mbia

After his ill fated move to Queens Park Rangers, Stéphane Mbia has managed to restore his reputation as a fine midfield player during his loan spell at Spanish side Sevilla, where he helped the Andalusians lift the Europa league title.

A tough tackling midfielder who is an expert in breaking up attacks and rarely wastes the ball when in possession, M’Bia is vital Cameroon’s plans.

The 28-year old can slot in effectively at centre back as well and his versatility could prove important for Cameroon as the tournament progresses.
