Leading the Costa Rica side will be PSV Eindhoven star Bryan Ruiz and the inspirational captain is arguably his side’s best creative player.

Manager Jorge Luis Pinto has built a very solid defensive side but if Costa Rica are to progress past their tough group, they will need someone to create chances and score goals as well and Ruiz is the man who will undoubtedly be handed that responsibility.

Ruiz is a fine footballer and technically one of the best in the world. While he did struggle during early part of the season at Fulham, the 28-year old seemed to find his golden touch after his move to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in January and the playmaker will surely need to be on top form if Costa Rica are to stand any chance against their much illustrious opponents.

Despite being only 21, Joel Campbell has established himself as a key component of the Costa Rican national team and will be leading the line for the Los Ticos in Brazil. The striker has already amassed 31 caps for Costa Rica and is key to manager Jorge Luis Pinto’s plans.

A pacey forward with a terrific eye for goal, Campbell is one of the brightest talents to have emerged in recent times and is undoubtedly set for a huge future in the game.

The 21-year old enjoyed a brilliant campaign with Olympiacos, helping the Greek side claim the league title this season and he will be hoping to continue his fine form into the World Cup as well.

Hailed as the best goalkeeper in the Spanish La Liga ahead of the likes of Thibault Courtois and Victor Valdes, Keylor Navas has certainly gained worldwide recognition with his performances for his club side Levante this season.

The 27-year old is a certainly fantastic goalkeeper whose reflexes are second to none. While the likes of Uruguay, Italy and England will have a tough time breaching the solid Costa Rica defence, getting past Navas will be another obstacle in itself.

Navas has been attracting the interest from some of the top sides in the world and if he can perform well at Brazil, his list of admirers will grow even further.
