Antonio Valencia is certainly one of the most important members of the Ecuadorian national team. Having made his debut for the La Tri as a teenager, Valencia has amassed 69 caps for Ecuador and will be leading his side out in Brazil.

Although, Valencia has been struggling for his club Manchester United over the last few years, the 28-year old tends to perform well for his national team.

A pacey winger who can deliver crosses with pinpoint accuracy, even the best of defenders find it difficult to cope with Valencia and he is undoubtedly key for Ecuador’s chances at the World Cup.

While the right wing of the Ecuador side is occupied by speedster Antonio Valencia, they possess another electrifying winger in the form of Jefferson Montero on the left.

The 24-year old may not be an established name as Valencia but there is no doubting that the winger is a talented young player. Montero never quite made it in Europe after enduring a difficult time in Spain but seems to have found his touch after his move to Mexican side Monarcas.

The duo of Valencia and Montero are a frightening prospect to defend against and if they are on form, Ecuador will surely do well in Brazil.

Antonio Valencia and Jefferson Montero are the ones who create chances for Ecuador and the man who usually finishes them off is striker Felipe Caicedo.

The 25-year old was in devastating form in front of goal for Ecuador during the qualifiers; scoring 7 goals and his fine goalscoring touch is vital to the South American side’s plans.

The former Manchester City man is a lethal finisher and although he tends to drift in and out of matches, Caicedo has the ability turn a game on its head through is incisive finishing.
