Skipper Robin van Persie is undoubtedly Netherlands’ talisman and key to Oranje’s World Cup hopes. The 30-year is one the best strikers in the world and was in scintillating form during the qualifiers, where he managed to score 11 goals in just 9 appearances.

It is not just that van Persie is a quality striker, the 30-year old is also absolutely crucial for the Dutch side due to the fact that he plays as the focal point in a 4-3-3 system which manager Louis van Gaal employs.

The striker’s goalscoring prowess is second to none and if Netherlands are to break their World Cup drought, they will certainly require van Persie to be on top form.

Arjen Robben will certainly look back on the 2010 World Cup final with more than a tinge of regret after having missed a couple of glorious chances to hand Netherlands the title.

However, since that final four years ago, the 30-year old has matured into a more level headed player rather than one who shows only glimpses, and his exploits for Bayern Munich over the last couple of years has been nothing short of sensational.

A brilliant winger, with a wonderful left foot, Robben is certainly a world class player but there have been doubts raised as to whether he can perform at the biggest stage.

While he has certainly proven that he is a big game player for Bayern in the last few years and will now have to prove that with the National team in Brazil.

Wesley Sneijder was the man who inspired Netherlands to the World Cup finals four years ago and he will be key if the Oranje are to go one better this time around.

While Sneijder is perhaps not the same player he was back in 2010, there is no denying his quality and importance to the Dutch side. The midfielder enjoyed a decent campaign with Turkish side Galatasaray and seems to be regaining his touch after a couple of difficult seasons.

On his day, Sneijder is almost unplayable and his creativity from midfield as well as his knack of scoring important goals will be vital to Netherlands’ chances at the World Cup.
