Former Leeds United central defender Jake Skelton is currently on trial with Sheffield Wednesday

Skelton was regarded as one of the most promising young players to have emerged from the Leeds United youth team not too long ago but the defender did not develop as well as expected and was eventually released by the Whites at the end of last season.

The exit would most certainly have been very disappointing for Skelton but there are a number of clubs that have expressed their interest in signing the 20-year-old this summer.

Skelton joins Hillsborough

It can now be confirmed that Skelton has managed to find a new club in the form of Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

Revelations can be made that Skelton has joined Leeds on trial and recently featured in the club’s development squad’s 6-0 friendly victory over Hallam FC.

It remains to be seen whether Skelton will now be able to earn a professional contract with the Owls but he will undoubtedly be keen on impressing during his time at the club.
