Sardar Azmoun being courted by Tottenham Hotspur FC

Tottenham Hotspur have enjoyed a wonderful renaissance in recent times and their dramatic 2-1 victory over Sunderland today has kept Spurs afloat with the teams above them in the chase for a Champions League finish.

Despite their fine run of form though, Spurs’ side looks a bit unbalanced and it has been predicted that manager Mauricio Pochettino will be looking to make an overhaul of his squad during the January transfer window.

It is believed that Pochettino will be looking to offload players who are surplus to requirements, while at the same time, bring in players who will boost Spurs in their Champions League chase.

Among the areas which Spurs need to improve upon this month, the attacking department clearly needs to be strengthened – especially with the likes of Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor set for an exit from White Hart Lane.

As a result, a host of strikers have been linked with a move to Spurs over the last few days and now another name in the form of Sardar Azmoun has been touted to make a switch to White Hart Lane.

Azmoun currently plies his trade for Russian side Rubin Kazan and is considered one of the finest young strikers in Europe.

Hailed as the ‘Iranian Messi’, Azmoun has been touted to make a move to a bigger league sooner rather than later and it is now being reported that Spurs are looking to lure the 20-year to White Hart Lane in January.

While Azmoun is still a raw player, he could well develop into a top class striker if the move to Spurs comes into fruition – especially given Pochettino’s great record of nurturing young talent.
