Aston Villa FC target Italian striker Robert Acquafresca

Aston Villa have made a surprisingly good start to their Premier League campaign, earning 4 points from the first two matches and look a much more united team than they did last season – especially at the back.

That being said, Villa have managed only one shot on target in the two games in which they have played in so far and are certainly lacking firepower upfront at the moment.

With star men Christian Benteke and Libor Kozak being ruled out with injuries, Villa manager Paul Lambert is certainly short of options up front and the Scotsman has recently admitted that he is looking to add another attacking player to his squad before the transfer window slams shut at the end of the month.

It was recently reported that Lambert had set his sights on signing Argentine playmaker Sebastian Blanco and now another exciting player in the form of Robert Acquafresca has been linked with a move to Villa Park.

Acquafresca currently plies his trade for Italian Serie B side Bologna and has reportedly been targeted by Lambert to reinforce his attacking lineup.

It is believed that Acquafresca has been made available for a fee as little as £1million and Villa are now said to be involved in talks with Bologna over a possible transfer in the coming days.

A very experienced player at the top level, Acquafresca started his career at Inter Milan and has since gone on to play for the likes of Cagliari, Genoa, Atalanta and Bologna.

However, the striker did not enjoy the best of seasons last year as he did not find the back of the net on even one occasion during Bologna’s failed bid to retain their Serie A status.

Despite his recent poor form though, Acquafresca has a very good track record in the past and the price at which the striker is being quoted – it certainly seems like he is a risk worth taking for the Villans.
