Championship duo Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday are set to battle it out to secure the services of prolific striker Simon Terodde

Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday have both enjoyed productive seasons in the Championship so far and the two teams remain in contention to earn a place in the Premier League next term.

Only time will tell which of the two teams will be able to make a return back to the top flight during the upcoming campaign but nonetheless, both Derby and Wednesday already seem to be planning for next season and have been looking at potential candidates to improve their respective squads.

Now according to reports from the Sun, claims have been made that the two Championships sides are currently involved in a head to head battle to secure the services of prolific German striker Simon Terodde.

Terodde wanted by Championship duo

Terodde is currently plying his trade for VfL Bochum and the striker has enjoyed a stunning season so far, scoring 21 goals in 30 appearances in all competitions.

Given his exploits, it has been no surprise whatsoever in seeing Terodde attract the interest of a host of Bundesliga clubs and with the striker’s contract at Bochum set to expire at the end of 2017, it is expected that he will look to leave the Ruhrstadion in the summer.

Now even Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County have now joined in the race to sign Terodde and the Championship duo are hopeful of luring the 28-year old to their respective sides by placing bids in the region of around £1.5-£2million at the end of the season.
