Derby County are ready to take a chance on former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood, according to reports from the Daily Mail

Derby County made a shock decision of dispensing with the services of manager Paul Clement despite the Rams occupying one of the playoff positions in the Championship and the club hierarchy decided to promote academy boss Darren Wassell as the caretaker till the end of the season.

In order to assist Wassell, experienced former Premier League manager Harry Redknapp was appointed on an advisory position and the 67-year old is believed to be playing a role in the team selection as well.

Unless Derby win promotion into the Premier League, it is very unlikely that Wassell will be installed as manager on a permanent basis beyond the end of the current campaign and names such as Brendan Rodgers, Nigel Pearson and Gary Rowett have all been linked with a move to Pride Park.

Sherwood wanted by Derby

Now in a fresh link, claims have been made by English tabloid the Daily Mail that Derby are considering appointing former Tottenham and Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood to take over the reins at the club.

Sherwood is currently without a job after being sacked by Villa back in October and his reputation has certainly taken a battering due to his poor spell with the Midlands based outfit.

Nonetheless, Sherwood remains coveted by a number of Football League clubs and now Derby are said to be open to taking a chance on the 47-year old on the recommendation of Redknapp.
