Ukrainian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev has set his eyes on purchasing Championship side Reading, according to reports from French newspaper L’Equipe (as cited by Get Reading)
Championship side Reading could be set for a much welcome cash injection as it has been revealed that Ukrainian billionaire Dmitry Rybolovlev is interested in purchasing the English outfit.
According to reports from L’Equipe, Rybolovlev is interested in purchasing Reading as he wants to create an influence in English football.
Rybolovlev has been involved in football for quite a while now and is the majority stakeholder of French club Monaco, while he also boasts partnerships with a host of clubs across the rest of Europe, which includes Braga, Varzim, Waregem, Rio Ave and Standard Liege.
Rybolovlev is looking to increase his portfolio of clubs and has now reportedly set his sights on purchasing Reading.
It is believed that Rybolovlev is targeting a 20% stake with Reading and the 156th richest man in the world is now close to sealing the deal in the coming days.
Reading are currently owned by a Thai consortium which is made up of Narin Niruttinanon who holds majority stake with 50 per cent, while Sasima Srivikorn and Sumrith Thanakarnjanasuth both own 25 per cent each.
