Championship side Fulham have also joined the race to sign Dwight Gayle, according to reports from the Daily Mail

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Dwight Gayle in recent times and it was reported that Crystal Palace had agreed a fee of around £8million to sell the striker to Bristol City on Tuesday.

It has been confirmed that Palace have accepted Bristol’s approach for Gayle but the striker is stalling over his decision to make a move to join the Championship side.

Palace manager Alan Pardew revealed today that it was Gayle who requested to leave Selhurst Park this summer but added that he does not know if the striker will be joining Bristol City.

Pardew had said, “He came and saw me at the start of the season to express a view to move elsewhere. I said, ‘OK, that’s fine with me, we’ll try to get you a club.’ Now there is a club and he’s reluctant to go. The ball is firmly in Dwight’s court.

Gayle now being courted by Fulham

“Dwight last year was a little bit not involved in the first team. It’s difficult to fit him into the way I play. He came to see me and said he would like to move on. Dwight can play in the Premier League, but having said that, Bristol City are a great club. A club with momentum.

“The owner wants to push up to the Premier League. That decision isn’t mine. That’s Dwight’s decision. We aren’t going to force anyone to go anywhere they don’t want to go. It’s about the boy understanding what the best scenario is for him. At the moment, it’s not here.”

It has recently been revealed that Gayle has decided to reject a chance to join Bristol and is looking at other options.

Now according to reports from the Daily Mail, even Fulham have joined in the race to sign Gayle and have placed a bid in the region of around £8million for the former Peterborough United star.

Fulham’s bid is similar to the one which Bristol City had placed a few days ago and it will be interesting to see which club Gayle will decide to join.
