Former Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp emerges as a shock candidate to take over the reins at Leicester City

Despite leading Leicester City to one of the greatest ever escape acts seen in Premier League history last season, Nigel Pearson was surprisingly sacked by the club this summer and the board explained that their decision was due to ‘fundamental differences in perspective’ between the two parties.

While the board may have given their diplomatic explanation, it is widely believed that Pearson’s departure has nothing to do with footballing reasons and that the 51-year old’s services was dispensed with due to his son, James’, involvement in a racist orgy video which came out during Leicester City’s ‘goodwill’ trip to Thailand last month.

James was duly sacked following his indiscretions and many feel that Pearson senior also paid the price for his son’s stupidity.

Klopp a shock target for Leicester City

Nonetheless, Leicester are on the lookout for a new manager at the moment and the Leicester board are aiming high as high profile names such as Guus Hiddink, Sam Allardyce and Michael Laudrup have been linked with the hot seat at the King Power Stadium in recent times.

Now another top quality manager in the form of Jurgen Klopp has been linked with the managerial position at Leicester. Klopp is currently a free agent following his exit from Dortmund at the end of last season and the charismatic German has been linked with a host of top Premier League clubs.

However with very little movement taking place in the managerial merry go round in England, Klopp has not been picked up by any of the top teams so far. The 48-year old is eyeing a move to the Premier League but has stated that he would like to take a break at the moment following a testing last few seasons with Dortmund.

However according to reports, Leicester City are looking to make an approach for Klopp and are hoping to convince the German manager to join the club in an ambitious move.

Leicester do possess the financial resources to be able to pay what Klopp is worth but it remains to be seen whether the 48-year old would be open to joining the Foxes due to the fact that top clubs are lurking around the corner for his services.
