Premier League duo Liverpool and West Ham United have been handed a major blow with the news that Jurgen Klopp is set to make a move to Italian side Napoli

Following the announcement that Jurgen Klopp was leaving his managerial post at Borussia Dortmund during the latter part of last season, it has led to an almighty scramble of top teams fending off competition from each other to win the charismatic German manager’s affections.

The likes of Manchester City and Real Madrid were initially named as the potential destination for Klopp but in recent times, Premier League duo Liverpool and West Ham United have emerged as the favourites to secure the services of the 47-year old.

The future of Brendan Rodgers at Anfield is anything but safe while West Ham United are looking to appoint a high profile name in order to replace their recently departed manager Sam Allardyce.

Klopp set for Napoli move

As a result, both the Premier League clubs had viewed Klopp as an attractive option and it was anticipated that the former Borussia Dortmund boss would end up at either of the two Premier League sides.

However as a blow to the duo, it has been claimed that Klopp is all but set to join Italian side Napoli instead. Rafael Benitez is set to leave his post as manager of Napoli and Klopp is now said to be lined up as the replacement for the Spaniard at the Stadio San Paolo.

To add fuel to the speculation, Franz Beckenbauer had recently claimed that Klopp making a move to Naples was all but a done deal.

Speaking to Sky Sport Deutschland, Beckenbauer said, “Next season Klopp will be training in the South of Italy, at Napoli.”

Klopp has earned a reputation as one of the finest manager around in world football following the wonderful job he has conducted at Dortmund and his capture will certainly be considered a big one for Napoli.
