Leicester City FC target Ahmad Benali

After an encouraging start to the season, Leicester City have endured a torrid time of late and are currently on a run of six matches without a single victory.

As a result, it seems very likely that Leicester will be involved in a relegation dogfight this season and if their fortunes do not improve soon – the Foxes could be headed for the Championship before too long.

It is clear that Leicester lack strength in depth in their squad and it is believed that manager Nigel Pearson has already identified transfer targets to pursue during the January transfer window.

The likes of Joel Campbell and Secluk Inan have been linked with Leicester in recent times and now it has been reported that Pearson is eyeing a move for young midfielder Ahmad Benali.

Benali is currently plying trade for Serie B side Brescia and has been in fantastic form so far this season, scoring 4 goals in 12 appearances.

With Benali showing such a good run of form, it has been reported that a host of clubs have expressed their interest in signing the young man and Leicester are hoping to lead the race to secure the services of the 22-year old.

Benali has himself admitted that a couple of clubs are monitoring him and hinted that he could be on the move soon.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Benali said, “I am aware of the interest from some Serie A and English clubs in me.

“It is flattering of course, but I am just focusing on doing my best for Brescia and I will leave the interest from other clubs with my agent to deal with.”

Benali is a Libyan international who started his career at English side Manchester City. After failing to break into the City first team, Benali moved to Brescia in 2012 and has enjoyed a wonderful revival in his career.
