Leicester City FC to break the bank for David McGoldrick

Leicester City have certainly made a very good impression in Premier League so far following their fine performances against Everton and Chelsea.

Despite their lion hearted displays though, the Foxes have only one point to show for it and such is the unforgiving nature of the Premier League that – if Nigel Pearson’s men cannot convert their good performances into the desired results, they might find themselves involved in a relegation battle even if it is very early in the campaign.

Leicester certainly look a very good team overall but seem to be lacking a bit of edge in attack to take their chances in front of goal – as evidenced by their missed opportunities against Chelsea last weekend and as a result, Pearson is looking to recruit a new frontman in order to rectify their deficiencies in attack.

Nigel Pearson1Nigel Pearson has identified David McGoldrick as the striker to reinforce his attacking department

With only two days to go before the transfer window slams shut, Pearson will surely have to move quickly in order to land a new striker and it can now be revealed that the Leicester boss has identified Ipswich Town star David McGoldrick as his primary target.

It is believed that Leicester have already had a bid of around £6.5million rejected for McGoldrick and the Foxes are now set to return with an improved offer of £8million in an attempt to lure the Tractor boys to part with the 26-year old.

McGoldrick enjoyed a fine campaign in the Championship last season, scoring 16 goals in 34 appearances for Ipswich and was widely hailed as one of the best strikers in the division.

While there is no doubting that McGoldrick is a very good striker, Leicester paying a fee of around £8million for a player who has never played in the Premier League is certainly a huge risk.

However, Pearson has proven that he is not afraid to splash the cash on a Premier League rookie after spending a club record fee of £8million to sign Leonardo Ulloa this summer and there is every possibility that the Foxes could bring their chequebooks out again in order to secure the services of McGoldrick as well.
