Liverpool are enjoying a fine season so far and currently stand every chance of qualifying for the Champions League after a five-year hiatus. The Reds’ manager Brendan Rodgers had stressed the importance of qualifying for Europe’s elite competition, citing the fact that if his side do make it to the Champions League then it would open the door for established star players to arrive at Anfield next season.

That being said, Rodgers is also a firm believer in youth and the potential arrival of big-names will not necessarily stop the Northern Irishman’s policy of recruiting young talent. Therefore, it is believed that the 41-year old is on the look-out for potential targets to build for the long-term future of the club as well.

Now, it can exclusively be revealed by Winner Sports that Liverpool are looking to make double swoop for Red Bull Salzburg youngsters Kevin Kampl and Martin Hinteregger in the summer as part of their relentless drive to acquire talented young players from across Europe.

Kampl and Hinteregger have been earning rave reviews for their fine performances for Salzburg this season, which has gone a long way in helping the club to a comfortable 19 point lead at the top of the Austrian Bundesliga as well as into the knock-out phases of the Europa League.

Kampl is an attacking midfielder and has enjoyed a sensational season so far, scoring 11 goals as well as providing 23 assists in 34 appearances. The Slovenian international had recently expressed his desire to play in the Premier League and will certainly be tempted by the opportunity to play for a club of the size of Liverpool.

The Reds believe that the exciting 23-year old would fit into the club’s style of play and could possibly be lined-up to take over the unenviable task of succeeding Steven Gerrard at the club in the coming years.

Hinteregger, on the other hand, is a talented central defender who has also earned a lot of plaudits for his performances at the back for Salzburg this season. The confident 21-year old has been almost an ever-present in the Red Bull side over the last few years and is already heralded by many as good enough to play in a bigger league.

The Liverpool defence has looked very shaky this season and Rodgers is said to be looking to strengthen his backline in the summer with an addition of Hinteregger. Although the Reds do posses talented young defenders in the form of Sebastian Coates and Tiago Illori, the duo’s future at the club is far from certain and Hinteregger is seen as a more accomplished alternative.

However, Liverpool will certainly have to shell out a lot of money to acquire the services of the duo as they are currently contracted to Salzburg till 2018. The Reds are said to be ready to place a joint-bid of around £20million to for the two youngsters and it could be enough to tempt Salzburg to part with their prized assets.
