Man Utd FC flop Shinji Kagawa lined-up by Inter

The arrival of Shinji Kagawa to Manchester United last season was greeted with great enthusiasm by the Manchester United fans and rightly so. After all, the Japanese playmaker was arguably the best player in the German Bundesliga, playing an integral part in helping Borussia Dortmund win back-to-back league titles prior to his move to Old Trafford.

However, more than a year on from the fanfare surrounding his transfer to United, it is fair to say that Kagawa has failed to replicate the brilliant form he had shown at Dortmund for the Red Devils and looks resigned to leave the club in the foreseeable future.

With United enduring a torrid season, manager David Moyes does not seem to have too much faith in Kagawa, having handed him only 7 Premier League starts this season and the recent record breaking arrival of Juan Mata also seems have undermined the Japanese international’s position at the club as well.

Manchester United are expected to go through a massive overhaul next season with a lot of senior players likely to depart the club and Kagawa is also believed to be on his way out of Manchester as Moyes looks to reinvigorate his squad for next season.

Despite his struggles at United, Kagawa will certainly have a lot of suitors due to his undoubted quality and according to reports in Italy, it has emerged that the 24-year old is being courted by Italian giants Inter Milan.

As Inter owner Erick Thohir has promised to reinvest in the team next season to bring back Champions League football to the San Siro, it is believed Kagawa has been identified as a viable target to improve the quality of squad.

Having already secured the services of United captain Nemanja Vidic, Inter are hoping to lure the Japanese international to the San Siro as well and are reportedly lining a bid of around £10-12 million in the summer.

Although United do value Kagawa, it seems that the Japanese playmaker is unlikely have the desire effect at the club when he first arrived, as the Red Devils are going through a transitional stage allied by the fact that the signing of Juan Mata could further limit the 24-year old’s opportunities in the first team. Kagawa may also be willing to leave Old Trafford in order to prevent the stagnation of his career. Therefore, a move could benefit all the three parties involved.
