Man Utd FC looking at Neven Subotic

Manchester United have made a decent start to the season under Louis van Gaal but it is clear that the Red Devils are struggling defensively.

United have been indebted to goalkeeper David De Gea for putting in some heroic performances so far and manager Louis van Gaal must be aware that his goalkeeper has been worked more than he would have wanted.

Therefore it is widely believed that van Gaal will be looking to strengthen his backline by making a splash during the January transfer window and a host of names such as Mats Hummels, Diego Godin, Miranda and Ron Vlaar among others, have been mentioned as targets for United.

Now, another name in the form of Borussia Dortmund star Neven Subotic has been linked with a move to United in recent times.

United had been widely expected to make a move for Mats Hummels but Dortmund have made it clear that they are not willing to part with their star man, especially during their current predicament.

As a result, United have been forced to focus on other targets and it is believed that the Red Devils are looking to make a swoop for Hummels’ teammate Neven Subotic instead.

Although Subotic has been a key man for Dortmund, he has not looked the same player after making a return from his long term injury and has been very poor so far this season.

Despite his uncharacteristic performances during the current campaign though, there is no denying that Subotic is still a good player and it has been claimed that van Gaal would be open to taking a chance on the 26-year old.

Unlike Hummels, whose value is said to be around £35million, Subotic will considerably be cheaper and if van Gaal can get the best out of him, he could prove to be a good signing for the Red Devils.
