Moyes has showdown talks with van Persie

David Moyes has held “clear the air” talks with Robin van Persie over a number of concerns he has about the Dutchman.

The Manchester United boss is concerned van Persie is not playing when he has been told by club physios he is fit to play.

And Moyes is alarmed the Dutchman is considering his future with a move away from Old Trafford starting to look a real possibility.

Winner Sports revealed last year van Persie had told friends in Holland he was unhappy at United since Sir Alex Ferguson retired. He is not impressed with Moyes’ training methods, tactics, man management and feels his career will take a step back if he remains.

He has two years of his contract left to run and he could be allowed to leave in the summer. With Wayne Rooney also unhappy and looking for a summer exit, it will leave Moyes with massive rebuilding headache.

He has been promised cash but there are concerns the fact he is struggling with a title winning squad will not bode well if he has to completely rebuild.

Moyes had talks with van Persie in his office at the club’s Carrington training ground. And we understand Moyes was in no mood for excuses.

He is already under pressure after an alarming start to his Old Trafford career – but his job is not in any immediate threat.

Van Persie has effectively been out since he scored the winner against his old club Arsenal on November 10. Although he played against Newcastle and Shaktar Donetsk he cut a forlorn figure and said he did not feel right.

He is also said to be kicking himself at the progress the Gunners have made this season and feels he may have jumped ship too soon.

If van Persie’s attitude does not improve, Moyes knows he will have to sell him as there is no points in keeping a player who is unhappy and effecting the mood of the dressing room.
