Championship side Nottingham Forest are keen on securing the services of Liam Bridcutt, according to reports emerging out of England

Bridcutt may have endured a torrid time at Sunderland but he has managed to somewhat revive his career while on loan at Leeds United this season.

Despite his return to form though, Sunderland are very likely to dispense with the services of Bridcutt at the end of the current campaign and a number of clubs, including Leeds United are interested in signing the 26-year old on a permanent deal.

Now according to reports emerging out of England, it can be revealed that even Nottingham Forest are keen on signing the Sunderland outcast.

There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding Nottingham Forest at the moment but it is widely expected that Gus Poyet will be appointed as manager of the club in the summer after it was announced that he will be leaving Greek side AEK Athens at the end of the season.

Bridcutt to be pursued by Nottingham Forest

One can be sure that Poyet will be making a couple of signings when he does arrive at the City Ground and now reports claim that the Uruguayan manager has his sights set on securing the services of Bridcutt.

Poyet is a huge admirer of Scottish international having worked together at Brighton and Hove Albion and Sunderland and even stated that the midfielder was good enough to play for Real Madrid back in 2013.

He had said, “If I was coach of Real I would take him because he deserves to go to the highest level. As a holding midfielder, there is no better player in the division. So he is quite expensive.

“The best thing about Liam is that he understands me to an incredible level. The way he understands what I want from him is spectacular.”

With Bridcutt seemingly available, Poyet is likely to be pursuing the 26-year old at Forest and reports emerging out of England claim that the 48-year old will make the former Chelsea youngster one of his first signings at the City Ground.
