Championship side Reading are looking to smash their club record fee by securing the services of Robert Beric from Rapid Wien

Reading have been very active in the transfer market so far this summer by bringing in the likes of Orlando Sa, Ali Al Habsi, Stephen Quinn and Paul McShane among others to the club this summer.

The Royals really seem intent on earning promotion into the Premier League and now as a mark of their ambition, it can be revealed that the Championship side are ready to splash the cash in order to sign Rapid Wien star Robert Beric.

Reading planning Beric swoop

Beric was one of the most prolific strikers in Europe last season, scoring an impressive 32 goals in 45 appearances and such a wonderful run of form has led to the striker being courted by a host of clubs around Europe.

It was believed that French Ligue 1 side Saint Etienne would be winning the race to sign Beric but now according to reports from Get Reading, the striker is also being courted by Reading.

Reports have claimed that Reading are ready to match Beric’s asking price of around £3.93million and if indeed the Royals are able to get the deal for the striker through, it would smash the club record fee which currently stands at £2.5million paid for Emerse Fae back in 2007.
