Premier League surprise packages Southampton already preparing for life next season as they look to make a cheeky £1million move to sign Portuguese international Eder

Southampton had made a blistering start to the Premier League campaign this season but their form has waned in recent times and as a result, it looks very likely that the Saints will have to settle for a Europa League finish this season.

Nonetheless, the current season can be construed as a huge success for Southampton and now to consolidate on such a fine campaign, it has been reported that manager Ronald Koeman is already laying the groundwork to improve his squad for next season by signing a couple of new players.

A few names have been mentioned as targets for the Saints in recent times and now according to reports, it has been claimed that the South Coast based outfit are eyeing a move for Portuguese international Eder.

Eder is currently plying his trade for Primeira Liga side Sporting Braga and has established himself as one of the best strikers in the division during his time at the Estádio Municipal so far.

However, it is looking very likely that the striker will be leaving Braga for greener pastures during the start of next season as he is unlikely to extend his contract which expires in 2016.

Therefore, Braga will be forced in to cashing in on Eder during the upcoming summer rather than losing him for nothing later and he is reported to have been made available by the club.

With Eder seemingly intent on leaving Braga, Southampton are said to have registered their interest in the 27-year old and will be pursuing his services after the conclusion of the current campaign.

A fee of around £1million has been quoted for Eder and the potential transfer could certainly prove to be an astute one for the Saints.
