Premier League side Sunderland are planning to make a swoop for Bristol City star Aden Flint, according to reports emerging out of England

Whether or not Sunderland will avoid relegation from the Premier League this season remains to be seen but there is no doubting that there will be sweeping changes at the Wearside based outfit during the upcoming summer.

Manager Sam Allardyce is said to be keen on significantly strengthening his squad and a number of players have already started being linked with a move to the Stadium of Light over the past few weeks.

Bringing in a new central defender will most certainly be a priority for Sunderland as the likes of John O’Shea and Wes Brown have entered the twilight of their respective careers, and now according to reports emerging out of England, claims have been made that the Premier League side are planning a move for Bristol City star Aden Flint.

Flint wanted by Sunderland

Flint has enjoyed a wonderful rise from non league football in recent years and the 26-year old is now considered as one of the best defenders around in the Championship.

A rare breed of a goal scoring centre back, Flint’s 14 strikes helped Bristol City earn promotion into the Championship last season and the defender has more than acquitted himself well in the English second tier, scoring 6 goals this term.

Flint’s exploits with Bristol City have most certainly not gone unnoticed and the likes of Aston Villa, Everton and West Bromwich Albion are all said to be interested in the 26-year old.

Now even Sunderland have joined in the race to secure the services of Flint and reports claim that the Black Cats are ready to splash the cash to lure the £2.5million-rated defender to the Stadium of Light over the summer.
