Tottenham Hotspur links only rumors says Hector Moreno

New Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has not made the impact many had expected him to at White Hart Lane prior to his arrival and with a Champions League finish looking increasingly unlikely this season, it is widely expected that the Argentine manager will make a splash during the January transfer window to recruit a couple of new players.

Central defence is an area which will most likely require strengthening for Spurs as the duo of Jan Vertonghen and Vlad Chiriches have publicly expressed their desire of wanting to leave the club.

As a result, Spurs have been linked with a host of names over the past few weeks and recently, it had been claimed that the North London side will be making a swoop for Mexican international Hector Moreno.

The fact that Pochettino has managed Moreno previously at Espanyol further fueled the speculation that the defender could well be on his way to White Hart Lane in January.

However, Moreno has now moved on to quash talk that he is bound for Tottenham in January and dismissed the reports as just rumors.

The defender then went on to say that although he wants to play for the best teams in the world, he is currently only focusing on returning back to the Espanyol starting lineup upon his recovery from injury.

Speaking to Spanish paper AS, Moreno said, “Right now I don’t know [what the future holds]. All I want to do is play, have minutes, be able to feel important at Espanyol. For now [Spurs] are just rumours.

“My dream is to play with the best teams in the world, play in European competitions, and be fighting for titles. I work for it, but now my reality is Espanyol, my reality is to earn a spot in the starting line-up.”
