Watford are looking to bolster their defensive lineup with the signing of Rennes star Cheikh M’Bengue, according to reports emerging out of France
Watford have enjoyed a wonderful return back to the Premier League and on current form, the Hornets look set to comfortably avoid the drop.
One of the main reasons behind Watford’s fine season so far has been their smart recruitment policy during the summer and it is believed that manager Quique Sanchez Flores will look to further strengthen his Hornets side upon the reopening of the January transfer window.
Reinforcing the backline seems to be the priority for Flores and now according to reports, it has been claimed that the Spanish manager is plotting a move for Rennes defender Cheikh M’Bengue.
M’Bengue has been one of the most consistent defenders in the French Ligue 1 with Toulouse and Rennes, and the 27-year old has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past.
Watford boss Flores is one of the many admirers of M’Bengue’s abilities and he is now looking to secure the services of the Senegalese international in January.
M’Bengue’s contract with Rennes is set to expire at the end of the current campaign and Flores is hopeful of landing his man on a cut price deal.
