EXCLUSIVE: Australian star being targeted by Crystal Palace FC

The beauty of the FIFA World Cup is that the competition tends to help emerging talent come into world reckoning and one youngster who has managed to really impress in the tournament is Australia’s Tommy Oar.

A relative unknown around the world before the start of the World Cup, Oar has certainly caught the eye following his fine performances for Australia at the World Cup and although the Socceroos were eliminated in group stages itself, the young winger has certainly emerged as one of the young stars of the competition.

As a result, a host of clubs are said to have registered an interest in signing the young man and Winner Sports can now exclusively reveal that the 22-year old is attracting the interest of Premier League side Crystal Palace.

After having comfortably avoided relegation last season, Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis is keen on consolidating on his side’s fine campaign and will surely be reinforcing his side over the summer. Pulis has already significantly trimmed his squad by releasing numerous players and a few new faces at Selhurst Park can be expected in the near future.

Much of Palace’s success last season was down to their meticulous planning at the back and Pulis is now looking to take the Eagles to the next level by bringing in a couple of flair players in the summer starting with the signing of Tommy Oar.

With Tom Ince reportedly on his way to Hull City, Pulis has been in the market for a new winger and Oar is being touted as a player who would fit the bill perfectly at Selhurst Park.

Quick, tricky and able to produce the final product, Oar is a very talented player and at 22, the young man certainly will only get better. Apart from his fine performances at the World Cup, Oar enjoyed a fruitful campaign with his club side FC Utrecht as well.

Crystal Palace are now looking to table a bid of around £5million to secure the young man’s signature and although the offer falls below Utrecht’s valuation of the player, it is believed that the Dutch side could end up being forced to sell their young star due to his contract expiring at the end of next season.
